Entering a new school can be both exciting and stressful. With this in mind, SFBGS has created a ‘New Family Ambassador Program’. The purpose of this program is to help families who are new to SFBGS transition into our school and to provide assistance throughout the school year.
Ambassadors are current parents who volunteer to welcome new families and give them someone to call for answers to many of their questions. The goal is to ensure that each new student has a familiar face to greet them on their first day of school. If possible, families with students in the same grade level and gender will be matched. Home location will also be considered. What It Is:
A program to welcome new families to our school and build community and engagement among all school families.
How It Works:
New families are assigned based first on matching the grade level, gender, and interests of the students, but the selection also considers factors such as family interests, family size, and areas of residence.
Ambassador Families Will Be Partnered with New Families to Provide ADVICE:
Answer questions on everything from school drop-off, uniforms, and extracurriculars
Discover interests of the new families and identify how they may best be able to serve our school community
Volunteer together and help the new family discover the multiple ways to be active in our school
Invite the new family to school and parish events and introduce them to current families and staff as often as possible
Communicate with the new family about upcoming events, and reach out periodically throughout the school year
Engage the new family and encourage them to reach out to you should they have any questions. If there is a question you can’t answer direct them to the principal or the pastor
If you are a school family interested in welcoming new families to SFBGS, please complete the form below. Once again, thank you for volunteering to reach out with a helping hand and a kind word to new families as they join the Borgia family.
Sincerely,
Linda Pahl, Principal
Emily Mueller, Program Coordinator
