Religion and social justice are at the core of our curriculum. Daily religious instruction provided by the teachers and overseen by our Coordinator of Religious Education offers numerous opportunities for living their faith:
SFBGS provides strong academics that promote instructional methodology and elicits critical thinking skills. Enriched by social and spiritual education, our graduates continue to perform at high achievement levels in high school. With a dedicated science lab, STREAM lab, library, art, vocal music, piano keyboard and band classroom, our educational environment supports the whole child.
Music at SFBGS begins early with our preschoolers raising their sweet voices in song often to praise the Lord and learn about His creation. Our K - 8 music program focuses on vocal performance and the exploration of a variety of different instruments. Each year, the entire school performs in both a Christmas and spring vocal program that also helps introduce our students to performing in front of a live audience.
Rather than being the best at sports, lifetime physical fitness and healthy, active living are the main objectives in our P.E. classes. We focus on God's Word and how it relates to taking care of our bodies, working as a team and having good sportsmanship.
Phyisical Education at SFBGS promotes healthy active living, physical fitness, taking care of our bodies, and Christian discipleship through sports.
Benefits from our P.E. program include:
SFBGS students in grades K - 8 experience art with an emphasis on the Elements of Art (line, shape, form, color, value, texture and space). Using pencil, paint, pastels, and other mediums, two-dimensional pieces of art are created. Clay, wire, wood and cardboard are some of the mediums utilized in forming three-dimensional sculptures.
Art focuses on drawing skills and implementing the Principles of Design (pattern, rhythm, balance, contrast, emphasis, movement and unity). All grades of students explore the history of art and learn from examining the works of famous artist.
SFBGS stresses the importance of being good stewards in life. Students learn to use their time, talent and treasure to help community organizations. A few examples include:
